Merry Christmas

We had a very fun day today!
House games in the morning, lots of Christmas activities.
Gingerbread man cookie decoration and party in the afternoon!

I feel really blessed to have caring parents like you!
I am looking forward to continue to teach and see the growth of each one of my students in 2014!

Christmas Concert!

Dear Parents,
JKs will be performing a song on stage.
Please arrive at 6:45pm the latest and drop your child off in the classroom.
Students are asked to dress Christmas colors, girls may wear a dress and boys collar shirt.
After the performance, students will go back to the classroom, so you can enjoy the rest of the performances.

Happy Tuesday!

Students were very excited today!
I think they know Christmas break is coming soon!
In the morning we had our circle time and healthy snacks. In Language Arts we worked on letter d, e and f. Students were encouraged to identify words that begin with those letters.
In Math, students were encouraged to make a pattern stocking and play with Santa Sequence Cards.
In our UOI we are talking about Christmas and winter season. Today we made Santa's puppet.
To finish off the day, students participated in centers and attended Gym class.

Today we began the day with morning circle time and healthy snacks.
In Language Arts we reviewed letters a, b, c.
We also sang our phonics song.
In Math, students colored a rainbow according to numbers.
In our UOI we made snowman.

Reminder

Thursday December 19th is the last day of school.
Christmas Break begins on the 20th.

Fun, Fun Day!

Today we began the day with morning circle time and healthy snacks.
In Language Arts students wrote in their journals. They were encouraged to complete the following sentence: "Christmas is____________."
That's what Alyssa and Jacob did...
"Christmas is happy."                      "Christmas is fun." 
 
In Math we practiced graphing. Students were encouraged to count how many of each Christmas picture and put in a form of bar graph.
In our UOI we painted Christmas Tree and also cut out shapes to glue on a Christmas Tree.

Students participated in centers, Gym, Drama and French classes and we watched 10min. of the movie Rudolph.

Cold Thursday!

Today we had a fun day!
We began the day with morning circle time and healthy snacks.
In Language Arts, students completed a couple of pages where they had to look at the picture and circle the correct beginning sound.
In Math students practiced patterning, where they had to cut and paste in order to complete a pattern.
In the morning we had a very nice presentation of a dairy farm. The presentation was very interactive and engaging. Students learned about healthy eating and how important it is to be balanced!
Ask your child about healthy food and "sometimes" food.
In the afternoon, students participated in centers and we practiced our song for the Christmas Concert!

Happy Wednesday!

 
Nice to start the day with Anthony's enthusiasm!

Today we began the day with morning circle time and healthy snacks. Students then attended French and Drama classes.
In Language Arts, students completed a page where they had to look at the picture in each row and circle the correct beginning blend. They also practiced reading the blends sa, se, si.
In Math, students practiced patterning, by coloring Christmas lights.
In our UOI we reviewed the story The Polar Express and students cut out cards to build a story sequence.
To finish off the day students attended Gym and participated in centers.

Bake and toy sale

Please, limit your child to bring ONE small toy to school. Part of our messy cubbies is that students are bringing too many toys to school.

We reviewed name, sound and formation of letter d.
Students completed a page where they traced and wrote d.
Students also wrote in their journals and practice writing on dry erase books.
In Math, students completed a page where they had to count and circle the correct number.
They also made cut out cards of Christmas Trees to play matching game.
In our UOI we read the book Polar Express and students completed an activity where they had to draw their favourite part of the book.
To finish off the day we spent some time cleaning our cubbies and manipulating play dough.

Happy Friday!








Lots of painting today!
In Language Arts students wrote in their journals and completed a worksheet where they traced and wrote c, b, d, m.
In Math,students made gingerbread man patterns.
In UOI we painted gingerbread man.
To finish off the day students had reading buddies and Gym class.

Please, keep in mind that a "bug" is going around our class. Symptoms are similar to cold (fever and body ache). If your child has fever, please, keep he/she home. :)

Happy Thursday!

Today we had a busy day!
We began the day with morning circle time and healthy snacks.
In Language Arts we completed a couple of pages that dealt with beginning sounds. Students were encouraged to look at the picture and complete the word. For example: ___ orse or ____eer.
In Math, students cut and paste numbers from 1-10 in order.
In our UOI/Language students completed a page where they drew a picture of something that starts with C and wrote a word.

Happy Wednesday!

Today we began the day with morning circle time and healthy snacks.
In Language Arts, students completed a page where they had to look at the letter at the beginning of each row, say the name of the picture and circle the picture in which they could hear the consonant sound.
In Math/UOI we read the story The Gingerbread Man. Next students were instructed to cut out gingerbread man and match them to the correct number. Then students colored and paste shapes in a gingerbread man picture.
To finish off the day, students wrote in their journals, attended Gym and we read a story as a class.

Shinny Tuesday!

Glitter everywhere today!
We began our day with morning circle time and healthy snacks.
In Language Arts, students traced and wrote the following: C, c, ca, cub, set.
From now on students will practice writing short words everyday as well as sound them out.
Next, students completed an activity where they wrote and cut out letters to build the word hat.
In Math, students completed a worksheet where they counted and circle the correct number.
In our UOI we talked about Christmas Tree, heard a story about "Cristina the Christmas Tree" and decorated a triangle for our classroom Christmas Tree, that's where all the glitter came from!. It will be ready for tomorrow.

I can't believe Christmas is just around the corner!
We had a day full of learning today!
In the morning right after our circle time and snacks we met our new animal friend: Connie Cow. We learned a little bit about cows and how important they are for us. Students traced and wrote upper and lower case c. Next, they made Cs using clay.



 
In Math, students used math counters to help them to count and circle the correct amount.
 
After that students put a puzzle together from numbers 11-20.
 
In the afternoon students enjoyed centers.
