"The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right."

Happy Thursday!

Lots of writing happened in our class today!
In the morning students had their snacks, circle time, French and Drama classes.
In Language Arts we talked about short vowels and long vowels. We also talked a little bit about vowel combination (when 2 vowels are together). We looked the word SEE and completed the following activity:

I prompt students with "I see______________." and they were encouraged to complete the sentence with a word on their own.

Every time we copy sentences from the board, students have been instructed to use "finger space". Please, practice that at home as well.
In Math we completed the following activity:

Students were encouraged to count using cubes and write the correct number.

The Learning Buddies Program started today!
We will meet once a week. It connects Gr. 5 students with students in JK to work together on class work, share experiences and learn from one another.  Students also are benefit in their social development. Learning Buddies and Reading Buddies are very similar programs, the only difference is that now students will receive specific help in the most needed areas.
Today they just enjoyed reading together!
Have a great evening everyone!

Cutest picture of the day :)
